Father Sells Two-Year-Old Son in Mumbai: Human Trafficking Case Unfolds

Tragic Sale of Toddler After Mother's Death

In a shocking incident in Mumbai's Antop Hill area, a father, grieving the loss of his wife, sold his two-year-old son for Rs 1.5 lakh. The incident has led to a case of human trafficking being registered against four individuals, including the father. Two suspects have been arrested so far, and the case came to light after the boy's grandfather noticed the child was missing.

Suspicion Arises and Truth Uncovered

The boy's grandfather, Amar Dhiren Sardar, became suspicious when he hadn't seen his grandson for several days. His daughter Kajal, who had remarried Anil Poorvaya, passed away recently, leaving the child in Anil's care. Despite repeated inquiries since June, Anil evaded Amar's questions, leading to growing concern. Upon further investigation, Amar discovered that the child had been sold through a local resident, Asma Sheikh.

Details of the Sale and Police Involvement

In July, Anil secretly handed over the boy to Asma Sheikh, who, with the help of other accused individuals, including Asha Pawar and Sharif Shaikh, facilitated the sale. The transaction reportedly earned Anil Rs 1.6 lakh. Upon learning of the sale, Amar immediately reported the incident to the Wadala Truck Terminus Police Station. The police, recognizing the gravity of the situation, swiftly filed a complaint and began an investigation.

Ongoing Investigation and Search for Accused

Sub-inspector Seema Khandagale registered the case, leading to the arrest of two suspects. The police have identified two additional individuals involved in the crime and are actively searching for them. The investigation also suggests that the child may have been sold to a couple in Uttar Pradesh, raising further concerns about the extent of the trafficking network involved.
